About more than five weeks ago, I became a partner in a prestigious law firm downtown.
As a partner in a law firm, I get an office on the top floor.
I have an appealing corner office with a wonderful view. I was happy about the office and even a little surprised when I saw the size of the space. After a few days in the office, I can see why this office was vacant. I can hear the A/C units running all afternoon, and the A/C units are on the roof of the building, not to mention the fact that they are truly large. I have never been to the rooftop, however I can see the A/C units from the street. Every time the A/C units start running, our office windows start to shake. There is no use complaining, because all of us can’t turn off the machines. Last week, I had a call from 1 of our biggest clients. I couldn’t hear anything because the A/C unit was running. I had to leave the office and walk down to the lower floor so I could hear the call! One of our colleagues gave me a queer look when I entered the room. However, I said nothing about the problem! Some days later, the same client called again. I have to find a way to soften the noise in our office. There has to be a way to add soundproofing to the walls and muffle the sound and vibration. Surely other lawyers must be having the same problem. There are more than seven other offices on the top floor.
