I am living in the southern section of the country, where a/c is a section of everyday life, and there is rarely a morning of the year when I can shut down the cooling system, crank open all of the windows and welcome in a fresh breeze, despite investing a superb deal of cash into a top-of-the-line central a/c, I was not overly cheerful with the cost of our yearly electric bills, then i took precautions to eliminate energy waste, including caulking around windows, weatherstripping the doors plus adding more insulation to the attic, while I significantly tightened up the house, I started to have some concerns with indoor air pollen levels.
I prevented natural ventilation, making sure that contaminants became stuck inside, and any pet dander, dust, smells, bacteria or other allergens were just circulated over plus over again by the cooling system, but looking for a way to improve the health, comfort plus efficiency of the home, I contacted a local HVAC supplier for a recommendation… He suggested the installation of a whole-house type of fan.
This type of system is ideal when the outdoor air is cooler than indoor air, which is often the case at night. The people I was with and I open up windows and the fan pulls in the cooler outdoor air plus circulates it. It pushes the warmer, stale all the way in the attic, where it is expelled by way of vents. I’m able to shut down the a/c separate from sacrificing comfort. In fact, the house is way cooler in the mornings plus I’ve split our electric bill in half. The air exchange given by the fan has also made a big improvement in indoor air pollen levels. The house is ten times cleaner and even smells better.
